We did not expect that in the acclaimed hub of Islamic World, our worship would not be tolerated
Hadhrat Shaikh ul Islam Molana Abdol Hamind in his speech delivered on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr denounced the recent act of the government in interdicting the observance of Eid prayers by Sunnite community of Tehran and some other mega cities of Iran. He said: “We never expected in Tehran that is proclaimed by the Supreme Leader as the hub of Islam, where the Sunnite community have been observing Friday and Eid prayers for several years, they would be disallowed to observe their religious rituals” “This year the government has banned the observance of Eid prayers at about 10 places in Terhran and other cities whereas they used to be held in close areas such as residential premises and small halls not openly in open areas. The government did so while we expected that these Shiite brothers would allow us to build a mosque over there” he added.
By highlighting one the important principles of Islam that according to it there is no compulsion and coercion in Islam, Molana Abdol Hamid stated: “Is it possible to force the people not to pray as they wish, and come and perform it behind us instead? Is there any coercion in Islam? The prayers should be observed and Islamic republic should encourage the people for the observance of this holy practice. We really did expect to have had a grand mosque in Tehran where the Sunnite could hold their Friday and Eid rituals with respect and pride. Why the Sunnite community should not have a mosque in Tehran? (God is great! Chanted by the audience). Do the authorities have any justification and explanation for this? (God is great! Chanted by the audience)
The grand leader of Sunnite community of Iran further forewarned: “I explicitly emphasize upon this point that for us the unity is vital and sovereignty is important. We reject violence, but in the same time I explicitly make it clear to the authorities that we never compromise on our legal and basic rights” (God is great! Chanted by the audience). We have not followed up our political and social rights, and that is why we are feeling the religious pressures is increasing on us day by day; and the loop of encirclement is narrowing more and more around us. We are also living creatures and human. For us the life is valuable but unless our beliefs are secured and we could live in dignity and with our beliefs".
His Excellency continued: “It was expected from Shiite clergies who are our peers and counterparts as we are wearing the same uniform to have supported us in such situations and address our problems with special consideration. This grievance is mostly forwarded to those clergies who have a hand in power; they are expected to be more heedful toward us”. Expressing his deep regrets Molana Abdol Hamid broke “But! What is wrong with the observance of prayers?! In which part of the world have you observed such trends and policies?! Dear respected Authorities! In which which part of the world such intensive level of insularism is being exercised that some ones’ worship, and it is also in private places, is not tolerated?! This move of the government is a cynical ploy that is not in the direction of national security. These are those problems which feed fanaticism and disputes, provoking orthodox and hardliners to backlash and create more problems. We expect direct intervention by the supreme leader. I would like to explicitly declare that we never prefer comfortable and luxurious life over our beliefs and religious freedom (God is Great! Chanted by the audience)” “However, I hope that my friend authorities would consider whatever I stated here as benevolence and sympathy” His Excellency emphasized.

Discourse Series on Prophethood and the Prophets in the Light of the Holy Quran
Between God’s will and material instruments

The reader of the holy Quran_ the only book that has saved the history of prophets and their preaching activities- can clearly see that prophets (Peace be upon them) have always been appointed to launch their mission in dark and suffocated societies where the environment and conditions not only have been unfavorable to their divine programs, but have openly hampered them. They have also been in poor condition in terms of material instruments at the time of appointment, and whatever in surface is counted as matter of proud and respect such as wealth, protection, adherent etc., all were in favour of their enemies.
Albeit, what the prophets of the God were enjoying, included a strong faith that no kind of doubt could penetrate into it, as well as absolute sincerity free of self-interest and hypocrisy. Their wealth consisted of trust on Allah, confession of need and helplessness before him, piety, and good acts and behavior. Above all, they were the messengers of Allah bearing a divine mission that the Almighty had promised support and protection for it.
The story of Hadhrat Ibrahim (PBUH) that is repeated in the holy Quran is the biggest challenge for those who believe on the effects and independence of the material. Indeed, it is the most important proof about the weakness and inferiority of the material power and its supporters; as if, Hadhrat Ibrahim (PBUH) was carrying a mission to lighten the importance of material and belittle those who heavily relied and believed on the object, were proud of it, and had extra ordinary trust upon that, hence prove their ignorance.
The biography of Hadhrat Musa (PBUH) like Hadhrat Ibrahim's (PBUH) story is also a clear challenge to materialists, because, such people always see the material and the materialist theories as natural and eternal laws, and think that no one has the ability to succeed them, always considering the results of such laws and theories definite and fix. Indeed, the biography of Hadhrat Musa (PBUH) is a determinant test for those who do not step out of rationalism, and their sight is unable to see beyond material world.
The biography of Hadhrat Yousuf (PBUH) from epistemological and causative point of views is also highly amazing and outstanding. The revelation of Surah Yousuf took place in the troublesome environment of Mecca to evangel our holy prophet Muahammd (PBUH) that a bright future was awaiting him; as if the story of Hadhrat Yousuf was his (Prophet Muhammad) own story.
In fact, the purpose of narrating such stories is to teach the people that the law of God is unchangeable; and make all of the people to believe that calling the people to live the prophets’ style of living, faith, following the instructions of the holy prophet, patients, and good behaviour all are like branches of a holy tree which never dries out, instead every time spurs fruits upon the recommendation of Allah.
Indeed, a weak individual can be powerful adopting above characteristics, and a small minority can be transformed into a behemoth majority. A summoning practice that the prosperity and rescue of the man depends on, is that much valuable near Allah that even universal laws will be broken for that, and such events will occur which has never come to the mind of the man.
On the other hand, individual, group or national expediencies and power struggle which neither do bear any good thing in the interest of Islam and humanity nor can prevent corruption or fight against it, as the main purpose of them is to get power and then compromise with any deviation without any sensitivity, certainly, their efforts have no value near Allah. The Almighty does not care, over their course to what valley they would fall, with which enemy they encounter and die; or in which quagmire of violent revolution where no one is merciful to them, they would be trapped. In short, they would face such problems that their start and end are not clear.
Unfortunately, one widespread wrong perception among the Muslim communities or better to be said the whole Muslim world that is accepted by all layers of the society is that the material strength is considered as the pivotal factor in all issues. Even a great portion of believers and faithful people say that material comes first. Certainly, the life of the prophets and messengers of Allah completely invalidates such perception and does not recognize it at all. The life of prophets, stories of their miracles, conquests and secret assistance they have received from the God, as well as the final destiny of their enemies all manifest that this way of thinking is totally wrong, and the material is not that much determinant as it is thought.
This is the message and lesson that we have to learn from the stories of prophets; and this is the the true path that the prophets were following, and the holy Quran has also recommended it. It is to be confessed that the weak and poor nations have no option except to step into this direction, and no doubt the future of such nations which have faith, principles, and duty of summoning the people to the God, depends on going through this course.
Salah: the Source of Blessing and Compassion

Salah is a unique relationship between the bondman and his creator, or the almighty God and the weak individual. Anyone who keeps on performing Salah, s/he would soon realize the value and importance of this unique relationship which can be established through Salah. If we see the characteristics of the human, and beside them think on the characteristics of the Almighty, we would find that the man can only reach to its appropriate status, and quench his internal thirst, desire and greed when he establish a relationship with Allah.
The procedure of this relationship in the form of Salah is a beautiful framework fit to the human nature and suitable to his soul and body, which was gifted to the Ummah by Allah through his beloved messenger at the Ascension Night. Because this relationship is between a powerful creator and a weak creature, it brings comfort and relaxation to weary and care-worn hearts.
After the declaration of faith to Allah and his messenger, the first and foremost duty of a Muslim is to perform Salah. In various verses of the holy Quran, Salah has been declared as first duty after testimony of faith and monotheism. The holy prophet said: “The example of quintuple Salahs is like a deep cascading river flowing in front of some one’s house and s/he use to take bath five times a day in it. (Reyadh-ul- Saalehin, Hadith no.: 1043). The holy Prophet (PBUH) said: “Anyone who performs Fajar prayer, s/he is in the protection of the God. Therefore, oh man! Be careful that the almighty for such a person would not expect any thing form you". (Reyadh-ul- Saalehin, Hadith no.: 1049).
After the testimony of faith, it is compulsory for the Muslim to follow the instructions of the God and the Mohammedan rules and adopt an Islamic style of living; and the Salah is an important tool for creating and living such style of life. It can be said that the Salah is the foundation and pillar of the faith and Islamic style of living. That is why after faith it stands at the top of all other Islamic rituals. By testifying the faith, in fact, we confess that the almighty is our lord, so that we undertake to worship him; and the prophet Muhammad is his messenger, thus we would follow the set of principles brought by him.
In order to practically enjoy such a life, it is necessary to renew this obligation by recalling the grandeur and greatness of the Almighty. Consequently, fearing Allah and loving him would be inculcated within us making the man eager and restless for the obedience of the rules of the God. Secondly, there must be a set of principles and practices through them we could repeat such experience. Thirdly, we should believe on the God’s law of reward and punishment. Fourthly, we should repeatedly ask the Almighty for enabling us to establish an Islamic style of living. Fifthly, the environment should be encouraging and conducive for us.
Keeping in mind that living an Islamic life in consistence with Mohammedan principles and the God’s rules is not possible unless the above factors and conditions are met, if we look to the reality of Salah and its components as well as concepts, we would realize that how delicately such factors and components necessary for making and living such a life all are accumulated in it.
In the verses no.: 59, Surah Maryam the effects of Salah are clearly mentioned. According to that the Salah prevents the man in getting engaged in bad and carnal activities strengthening him to stay firm in piousness while as result of being careless towards it, the man will become the slave of his carnal and evil desires, and consequently will fall into the precipice of perdition. Indeed, observing and not-observing the Salah has direct impact on the prosperity and decline of nations respectively.
The growth or destruction of wisdom

Expression of beliefs and declarations of philosophers in relation to origin, resurrection, revelation, prophecy etc. has old standing. It has shown off with especial literature and purpose, and with apparent and hidden supports and motivation, and has busied the mind of many people throughout history.
At present age, these views are occasionally being discussed in electronic and print-media in Eastern and Western countries, and therefore, they need to be enlightened and doubt-freed.
As introduction, it must be said that the mission of the holy Prophets has been to introduce the true religion in order to guide the man to its best vision and lead him to realize the inner peace, justice and social security.
On the basis of Quranic teachings, the Sunnah and universal laws, the man has the right to freely choose his religion and life style. He can opt for monotheism and polytheism; faith or infidelity; and accepting or denying the truth.
The founders and heralds of both options (monotheism & polytheism) have provided their followers with regulations, strategies and programs; so that, the human history is full of intellectual, cultural and social disputes between these school of thoughts. It is true that the man, as human reserves the right to choose from different options but the battle between polytheism and monotheism has been existing since the very beginning and will continue to exist in the future.
One of the oldest and eventful squares has been the battle square between “revelationism and textualization” from one side, and “rationalist and philosophers” from other side. It has been existing in all centuries in different forms and has caused certain cultural, social and political implications.
A great number of wise people believe that the claims and assertions of philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, Farabi, ibn sina, Hegel, Feuerbach… and their imitators have been avoid of wise bases, and consequently have led to the confusion of their adherents.
One of the contemporary philosophers says: “The project of rationality is itself irrational”. It means that when you decide to be rational and trust your wisdom, this decision has not been made on the bases of rationality, and if it be as so, it comes around necessarily.
With all respects to the services and experimental knowledge of philosophers, I believe that many of them due to their alienation with the revelation and faultless words of the Almighty or defeat from biased rationality, internal inclination or vested interest have become the victims of hidden or apparent causes and objectives.
Although, many of imitators have fallen into steep decline due to their egoist and selfish nature, there is hope that a time will come when they return to themselves and start thinking to reconstruct of their belief system.
A Quick look at Preventive Medicine in the Teachings of Islam

A quick look at issues related to preventive medicine in Islamic teachings, will make our attention to the fact that this religion focuses on every aspect of human life, and considers all his needs. In the area of preventive medicine it has also very useful directions.
Looking into Quran and Hadith as two undeniable sources of Islam as well as the practical life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), we realize that if the instruction of this divine are followed and its laws are properly implemented, a great portion of problems that the humanity are facing with them today will be eliminated from the human society.
Because Islam strives for the health and excellence of body and soul, and purification of both of them, as a high spiritual value and an efficient administrative system it can assist medical science in preventing various diseases.
In implementing a healthy lifestyle program, the emphasis of Islam is on regulating and adjustment of all aspects of life. In fact, Islam is a religion which has program for human beings from birth till death and at the same time does not prevent the progress of mankind, but accompanies and supports him to the highest level of growth expected from him.
To discover what Islam teaches, the Quran and Hidith should be studied. Some of the researchers have divided the issues related to preventive medicine in Islam into two parts: “teachings related to personal health” and “teachings related to environmental and public health”.
The first section includes personal hygiene to prevent infectious diseases, and personal care to prevent from diseases. The second part covers areas such keeping the environment clean and preventing it from pollution; health principles for non-proliferation of epidemics; nutrition; sexual hygiene; prevention from social damage and accidents; and mental health.
In short, the features of Preventive Medicine in Islam can be outlined as such: 1-priority, 2- validity and correctness, 3- required condition and validity, 4- simplicity and easily implementation, 5- implementation at individual level, 6- comprehensiveness, 7- (first preventive), 8- continuity, 9- principles of preventive medicine of Islam.
Islam and the West: Challenges and Opportunities
(A scholarly discourse with the prominent scholar of Muslim world late Dr Mahmood Ahmad Ghazi)

Dr Ghazi in this part of his interview with Neday e Islam magazine talked about the most important challenges that the Muslim world is facing in the contemporary era and commented: "The blind imitation of the West and surrendering in front of its culture, as well as taking a defesive position towards it, is one of the most potential challenges for the contemporary Muslim world. Unfortunately a great number of people particularly those who are influential in the Muslim world, are living in this condition. Secularism is another big challenge that the West is pursuing to impose on Muslim societies. In order to succeed these challenges, the intellectual training of Muslim Uammah is highly recommended. Furthermore, the recovery of full confidence and trust on Islam among the Muslim themselves is vital."
About the present hysteria of western world from Islam he said: "They are very obsessed that the system and civilization that they have chalked out on the principle of exploitation and colonialism for monopolizing global economy, may fade away and collapse. They know very well no civilization in the world can counter them except Muslim civilization; and there is no nation in the world except Islamic Ummah whose beliefs and values can challenge western thought and culture."
In response to the question what could be the best offer of Islam to the western world, Dr Ghazi Said: At present the western world is facing serious moral corruption and promiscuity. Family system in the West is collapsed, and the moral values are sidelined. The souvenir of Islam for the West is not in the area of economic, though as result of it the economic objectives can also be materialized. However, Islam does not aim material success alone; instead it aims at spiritual and moral superiority, and making a balance in all aspects of life. Today, there is no balance in the life of westerners. The unique thing that the Muslim world can give to the West is moral and spiritual guidelines.
The great scholar talked about American war on so-called terrorism and said: the war that the West is engaged with, is not the war on terror. In fact it is a war against Islam and being used as tool to conduct evil and imperialistic programs. Unfortunately some simple-minded leaders of Muslim world are deceived by it, so that they are supporting this war. Under the guise of the war on terror, the western countries want to secure their national interests, and crash those potential threats who want to defy western civilization.
Expressing his ideas about civilization dialogue between Muslim world and the West, Dr Ghazi said: In my opinion the future of humanity is laid on tolerance and cooperation between West and the Muslim civilization, and this task can be achieved with the help of civilizational exchange; and the earlier it takes place, the better it gives results. It is also very necessary to hold these talks at all levels form religious leaders and scholars to literary men, writers, intellectuals and youth. However, under the pretext of dialogue, the term should not be used for imperialistic purpose, otherwise the situation will become worse and no progress will take place.
Regarding the global financial crisis and its way-out methods, Dr Ghazi suggested: the present financial crisis that the world is engulfed into, is the result of two causes: first, unordinary and irrational wars that the US leadership due to their clandestine plans and power-seeking nature imposed on Afghan and Iraqi nations. Second, the backbone of western economy is constituted by banking system which in turn its life is founded on interest. And the interest oriented system is relied on giving and taking loan based on nominal, paper-driven and unreal deals, that like a bubble continues to enlarge till the time that a pressure is applied on it. However, as soon as a small stick touches it, promptly it will blow up, and disappear. The treatment for the current financial crisis of the west is: first, it should give up its imperialistic policies. Second, in order to get rid of this crisis, it should adopt Islamic economic principles.
In response to the question about the possibility of repeating the experience of a united political leadership for Islam in the framework of Islamic Khilafat, Dr Ghazi expressed: the achievement of this idea is very necessary, because if Muslims belong to a single Ummah, then they should have a central world political leadership too. And this is what we call Khilafat. The West, for a long time, feared from Khilafat system which was representing the majority of Muslim Ummah; that is why it (West) concentrated all its efforts for its disintegration. Towards this aim, the first step it took was to question the legitimacy of Khilafat. Unfortunately, by employing long internal and external efforts, the West became successful, and the Khilafat system after thirteen centuries was ended. The role of Muslims in the civilization and cultural arenas that is the coherent part of their global mission cannot be realized unless this political leadership is re-formed
